Webster officially
known as "Am. Ch. Abelard's Fun with Words CD, RN, CGC"
was born on 9-1-00 near Seattle Washington. He came from a small show kennel called Abelard and his
breeder is Deborah Blair-Muzzin. Deborah took a huge leap of faith by trusting
me with one of her male show prospects, and for that I will always be grateful :0).
After struggling to learn one
end of a show leash from another and showing Webster in a few local
shows myself, I decided to hire a professional. In the Spring of
2004 I made the decision to have Webster exclusively shown by Vicente Zuniaga,
professional handler and long time breeder owner of Gorca golden
retrievers.

Webster went out with Vicente
for his first show in April of 2004, he consistently placed in large
open classes at most shows he attended, including two specialties.
Webster got the majority of his points and both of his majors in the
first 3 months he was out, he came home to Florida for a short while and
then off he went in search of the final 4 points he needed.
On Nov. 13th 2004, I
achieved the dream of owning a Champion Golden Retriever.
He is now known as
Ch. Abelard's Fun With Words CD, CGC
I owe a huge debt of gratitude
to Vicente Zuniaga, Ginny Kladis & Jeanny Candamo who took a spoiled rotten house
dog and turned him into a moving machine of muscle and hair!
Webster's structure and
movement were exceptional, if you wanted to see drop dead gorgeous
side-gait then hopefully you got to watch this boy move. Webster was
balanced front and rear and appeared to float around a show ring, he had a trusting,
soft expression, correct coat, full dentition, top line to die for,
good pigment and loved to show.
He was in excellent hard working
condition year round and always ready for a game of tennis balls!
Webster in the Spring of 2005
decided that it was time he finished his obedience title, he had one leg
previously obtained in 2003, so in back to back shows in West Palm Beach
Webster obtained his CD title and placed 3rd both days. Not bad for a
dog who had not seen the inside of an obedience ring for about a year
and half! He then went on to get his Rally Novice title in three
straight shows!

In July of 2005 Webster decided
to head back to the show ring for a local show, his first time back
in the ring with Vicente, Webster took a Best of Breed.
As well as being a
trustworthy obedience and house dog, Webster had his Canine Good Citizen
title and was a certified Pet Therapy dog for Hospice House of SW
Florida for several years.
Webster
has been most recently photographed by Lynn Stone a well known wildlife
and domestic animal photographer, Lynn submits photos for many of the
top selling dog
calendars and I am thrilled to say that Webster was featured in 2006 in
his first two calendars and a book called "Why Do Goldens Do That?"
published by Willowcreek Press. Webster was featured in more than 6 of
the Golden Retriever calendars in 2007 and made the cover of over
three!! In 2008 he is featured in another 5 calendars, he is retired
from his modeling career but the photos will continue to show up year
after year which is fun to watch for every year.
Above and beyond anything else, Webster was just my best friend,
he was a 100% reliable house dog and loves to take naps, play with his tennis
balls and hang out with the girls! Webster never got to show in veterans but
he sent us his wonderful mother to do it for him...
There will never be another dog in my house who
will take a piece of my heart like he did. Until we meet again my
sweet red boy!
